About Harrodsburg

The city of Harrodsburg and surrounding Mercer County, Kentucky is nestled among the rolling hills between Lexington and Louisville. Lexington is a short drive of about 35 miles to the northeast, while Louisville is about 65 miles northwest. Frankfort is 30 miles north and Danville is 7 miles south.


Harrodsburg is the first permanent settlement west of the Allegheny mountains. The town was founded in 1774 and the area is rich in history. The geography includes rolling countryside as well as rich and fertile flat lands. There is an abundance of water in this region with our many streams, rivers and lakes.


You will find Harrodsburg and Mercer County to be an excellent location for your family and a wonderful place to live. The cost of housing and land is considerably less than many of the nearby counties. There are many resources available to learn more about our area, but the best way is to come and visit us.
